The ‘Three C’s’ Celebrate the MB STEAK Opening in Las Vegas

In Christine on The Scene by Christine McKellar

There’s a lot to be said about the Morton family gene pool beginning with patriarch Arnie Morton who opened Morton’s of Chicago in 1978. His eldest son, Peter, is internationally renown for his Hard Rock Cafe brand. Peter’s son is Harry Morton (Pink Taco), and his half-brother is restaurateur Michael Morton, who has been hugely instrumental in Vegas venues such as N9NE Steakhouse, Ghostbar, Rain Nightclub, Nove Italiano and Moon Nightclub. In 2010, he opened La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway at Wynn Las Vegas with his wife Jenna Morton, followed by La Comida in downtown LV and Crush  at the MGM Grand. Michael Morton and his brother David Morton (co-owner of DMK Restaurants) have partnered together  in a new dining venture, MB Steak House, located in the Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas.

The well-attended Thursday night, June 15, media VIP gala featured what I call the three C’s:

Carving

meat carving station

Two carving stations, one on the ground floor and one on the second floor, respectively served up slices of prime rib and lamb with creamed corn; wagyu beef and beef tenderloin with truffles complemented with mushroom grits and truffle sauce.

Caviar

woman and two men with caviar

Guests enjoyed samples of caviar with all the trimmings; onion, chopped egg yolk, creme fraiche, blini pancakes–plus chilled vodka shooters.

Cakes, Cookies & Candy

The dessert station with its array of delightful carrot and chocolate cakes, cotton candy towers and candy cones, was a very popular area. So much so  that I ended up with a ramekin of creme brulee on my skirt, leg, shoe, and some even made it to  the floor. It was all in good taste, however,  and no real damage was done.
