My Town, Your Town: The Magic of Motown…and More

In Christine on The Scene by Christine McKellar

four black singers and posterLocals love good deals and tourists love good affordable shows.  The Magic of Motown, hosted by Gregg Austin, is now playing every Tuesday night in the Showroom at the South Point Hotel Casino & Spa. With an attractive price point of only $5.00 per ticket, the hotel has added even more incentive for fun by including one drink and $5.00 in Match Play on the slot machines with the purchase of each ticket.

Gregg Austin knows the score when it comes to making the kind of music that gets people off their chairs, onto their feet and into the groove.  At the March 25 debut of Magic of Motown…and More in the South Point Showroom, the standing room only crowd responded with enthusiasm: packing the dance floor, and dancing in their seats and in the areas along the walls. “People love the Motown sound,” said Austin. “And we love to entertain.”

Backed up by the talented quartet, Second Wind, Austin’s show features the music of the Temptations as well as weekly special celebrity guest appearances.  While the show is dedicated to the music that made Motown great, Austin also introduces contemporary hits such as “Blurred Lines,”  by artist Robin Thicke, into the mix.

When you’re in the mood to listen to some very talented and enthusiastic performers whose mission, to all extents and purposes, is to get you into your groove and on your feet to shake your booty, then mark Tuesday nights at the South Point on your soul-loving calendar.–Christine McKellar
