Festive and Indulgent Desserts

These Sweet Dreams Do Come True

Rich and satisfying desserts are welcome any time of the year, but we’d like to think that throughout the festive holiday season Santa gives us all a present actually by taking away something – calories! Here are three confections that are proven crowd pleasers, courtesy of CooksSalon.com where cooks from first-timers to long-timers can tap into recipes & tasty resources in new Salons every Friday.

Who doesn’t love the homey indulgence of sugar cookies. But leave it to Food Network’s Mollie Yeh, known for her fresh approach to playing with food, to turn them into edible art. Now, you can make your own dough from the recipe, or shortcut with store-bought refrigerated dough as I did. Whichever you use, the next steps are like being back in kindergarten as you pull the dough into three pieces, blend in colors of your choice, then twist and turn. Add a bit of sparkly sugar and voila! fun cookies at home on the kids’ table, dessert table, or happy hour table.  Recipe  <>   From Feb 5, 2021 Salon

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake  This is so good it just might be illegal. Or at least something you don’t want to mention to your dentist. Rich cheesecake goes a big step richer with melted chocolate chips blended in. Then cozies up to a thick layer of peanut butter that’s gone all sweet with powdered sugar, then finished with a chocolate drizzle. And, it’s no-bake. From Tasty.co which just keeps on living up to its name.   Recipe  <>  From Jan 22, 2021 Salon

Cherry Cream Cheese Coffeecake   This is just so perfect for breakfast or brunch, with its buttery crust, creamy layer, cherry sweetness, and crumbly top. And as you can see, it is crowd size. The recipe calls for prep in a springform pan, but I opted for a rectangular baking pan for thinner slices. One other nice thing, it can slip into dessert mode just as is. Of course a side of ice cream can’t hurt. From my own files.   Recipe  <>  From May 14, 2021 Salon
