Mini Caramel Apple Fondue Party Treats

Crisp autumn apples and gooey delicious caramel make for a great Halloween treat at a party. Dress up those apples after you dip them in the caramel fondue with a variety of add on’s like chopped peanuts, chocolate sprinkles, candy corn, M&M’s, non-pareils, salted caramel baking chips, Reese’s Pieces mini candies, corn flakes or your favorite granola. Variety is the spice and the options are endless.

 

Mini Caramel Apple Fondue 

Cut four or five apples into chunks or slices (or use whole apples if you prefer)

Soak apple slices in lemon juice or lemon-lime soda about 30 minutes to prevent browning.

Gently dry apples with a paper towel.

Use wooden skewers for handles on the fruit.

Dip the apple pieces in *Caramel Sauce then roll them in your favorite toppings served in festive ramekins, muffins tins, or small holiday-themed bowls.

 

*Caramel Sauce 

Easy method-

.melt 1 bag of caramels plus 2 tablespoons water in a pan on the stove top, then add to a crock pot to keep warm and to serve. Or, make your own sauce from the recipe below.

 

Make Your Own Caramel Sauce Recipe 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, salt and heavy whipping cream
  2. Bring to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes or until thickened
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla
  4. Serve warm or store in container in fridge
  5. Reheat, stir until smooth
