Turkey Burgers a la Caesar

One of the super yummy lunch specials that I clearly remember from a small restaurant in my old neighborhood was the chef’s Caesar Salad Burger. He used beef patties but I have morphed into using turkey for just about everything; burgers, meatloaf and chili. For last Sunday’s weekly traditional family dinner, I decided to surprise everyone with a blast from my past: Caesar Turkey Burgers. They LOVED them so much that I felt compelled to share.

Turkey Burgers a la Caesar

Burgers: {Please note: I never measure anything so the quantities below are guesstimates. Use your own judgement or nose when in doubt. <:-) }

1 lb ground turkey

1-2 tsp olive oil

2 gloves garlic, minced or chopped

dry Italian seasoning blend (you may want to simply use a packet of Good Season’s Italian dressing)

1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup French’s Fried Onions

lemon pepper

garlic powder

paprika

Mozzarella cheese

Directions:

Mix olive oil, Italian seasoning, Parmesan cheese, garlic, lemon pepper and garlic powder in a ramekin and let sit for several hours.  Blend all ingredients into the turkey meat including the French’s Onions, then shape into patties (makes four).  Sprinkle each patty with lemon pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Cook in non stick frying pan about ten minutes each side or until cooked thoroughly. Top with mozzarella cheese and cover with lid until cheese melts.

Place burgers on hamburger buns and top with chopped romaine dressing tossed with creamy Caesar salad dressing. Serve with onion rings or french fries. Add pickles or peppers on the side.
