A Crock Full of Wassail!

After October, it’s time to bring on the real holiday cheer: what could be better than the aromatic fragrance of a spiced and fruity Wassail wafting through the house as it simmers in the crock pot? Keep it simple for all to enjoy or add a thimble or two (or four or more) of your favorite rum, whiskey or even vodka.

 

Spiced Holiday Wassail 

Ingredients:

1 gallon  Apple Cider

4 cups orange juice

4 hibiscus tea bags

10 cinnamon sticks

1 teaspoon whole cloves

1 tablespoon juniper berries

1 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger, cut into slices

1 apple, sliced into rounds

1 orange, sliced into rounds

Instructions:

Place all the ingredients in a slow cooker and cover.

Set on high heat and cook for 3-4 hours, until the color has darkened and the fruit is soft. Remove the tea bags and serve hot. For the adult version, add your favorite
