The thought of putting an olive in your whiskey may seem somewhat peculiar but for some reason it works with the Irish Cocktail. The wearin’ o that particular green is a fitting topper to a foine concoction such as this one.
The Irish Cocktail
Ingredients
- 60ml Jameson Irish Whiskey
- 2 dashes Pernod Absinthe
- 2 dashes curaҫao
- 1 dash maraschino liqueur
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- one olive
- orange peel
Method
- Mix all ingredients and stir over ice
- Strain into a chilled sherry glass
- Flame a piece of orange peel and squeeze the zest over the cocktail
- Garnish with an olive
- At this stage it may be appropriate to raise a traditional Irish toast; “Slainte!”
