Butter Beer Cocktail: Scary Calories

In The Imbibery and Distillery by Christine McKellar

The only thing scary about this butter beer cocktail is the calories. Health concerns aside, it’s a marvelous cold weather cocktail in that the alcohol warms you up on the inside and the beer and cream soda actually aid the digestion just a bit. Anything can be justified when it comes to beer and vodka!

NOTE: J.K. Rowling may have coined the phrase “butter beer” in the Harry Potter novel series, but there is a reference to a similar concoction in The Good Huswifes Handmaide for the Kitchin published in London in 1588 regarding a drink that was made from beer, sugar, eggs, nutmeg, cloves and butter.
