POP SUPERSTAR KATY PERRY ANNOUNCES 2023 RESIDENCY DATES: International sensation, Katy Perry has announced 14 new 2023 show dates to her highly acclaimed Las Vegas residency “Katy Perry: PLAY” at Resorts World Theatre. Tickets for her new shows are scheduled between Feb. 15–25 and March 3–April 15. The new 2023 show dates will kick-off the second year of her larger-than-life residency which premiered on Dec. 29, 2021, in the newest theatre on the Strip. Perry’s 2015 Super Bowl performance is the highest rated in the event’s history. She is one of only five artists in history to have topped 100 million certified units with their digital singles – and the first-ever Capitol Records recording artist to join the elite RIAA 100 Million Certified Songs club.
LA MONA ROSA WILL REPLACE LA COMIDA DOWNTOWN: Corner Bar Management, the creators behind some of Downtown Las Vegas’ most imaginative destinations including Commonwealth, Lucky Day and Cheapshot, has acquired La Comida at 100 S. Sixth St. Keeping La Comida’s Mexico City-inspired stylish design and the original bones of the space, Corner Bar will introduce a new dining destination La Mona Rosa. The restaurant will remain open as La Comida until La Mona Rosa officially debuts, and Corner Bar is working to keep the same team in place. Executive Chefs Daniel Arias and Isidro Marquez-Castillo, who also helm Corner Bar’s downtown restaurant, Peyote, will curate a menu for La Mona Rosa. The cuisine will celebrate Mexico’s diverse regions, robust flavors and culinary techniques through traditional dishes complemented by craft cocktails. The 3,500-square-foot space seats 80 in the dining room, 15 at the bar and 24 on the patio. An open kitchen is visible from the rear of the dining room and a 25-foot cocktail bar overlooks Sixth Street. New to the venue will be a stage, which Corner Bar plans to activate for a range of live entertainment and nightlife experiences. Corner Bar’s owner, Ryan Doherty, will keep the seven-foot pink neon monkey clinging to the side of the building as homage to the Mortons, Jenna and Michael. Jenna and Michael Morton are behind Morton Group and have long been neighbors to Corner Bar’s other downtown destinations since opening La Comida in 2013. The Morton Group portfolio includes La Cave at Wynn, Crush and Greek Sneak at MGM Grand, and One Steakhouse at Virgin Las Vegas. The Mortons are in discussions to open a new La Comida in a resort hotel property.
DERMOT KENNEDY WILL VISIT THE CHELSEA AT THE COSMOPOLITAN: Platinum selling singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy will bring “The Sonder Tour” to The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan on Friday, May 19, 2023. The tour comes in celebration of the acclaimed artist’s new album, “Sonder,” being released Nov. 4 on Island Records/Interscope. Sonder, which means “the realization each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own,” resonated deeply with Kennedy and reflects a new musical chapter for him. Highlights from the album include the piano ballad “Innocence and Sadness” recorded live, the infectious “Kiss Me,” the lead single “Something to Someone,” which has topped more than 20 million streams, and “Dreamer,” which he recently performed on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Nominated for the “Best International Male” BRIT Award in 2020, Kennedy has now amassed nearly 4 billion streams across platforms and has the best-selling debut album in Ireland of this millennium, making him a platinum-selling artist in more than 12 countries.
‘FRANKLY, FRANK’ WILL OPEN AT ALEXIS PARK: “Frankly Frank,” an intimate tribute to Sinatra the man and his music starring Gary Anthony, will open in The Modern Showrooms at Alexis Park Resort Hotel on Nov. 6 at 5:30 p.m. and will perform Sunday-Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for an indefinite residency. Alexis Park is located at 375 E. Harmon Ave. Tickets start at $99.95 online at ModernVegas.com. “Frankly, Frank” features rarely heard stories and some of The Chairman of the Board’s top hits and lesser-known tracks. Audiences are transported back to an era where people wore tuxedos to go gambling and everything was hip and cool. Anthony has been performing his tribute to the man and his music all over the world his whole life.
NERD HALEN TRIBUTE WILL BE COMING TO M PAVILION: An early concert for 2023 will highlight the hilarious antics of Nerd Halen mashing the music of Van Halen while transporting the audience into a 1980s B-movie. This tribute band, unlike any other, will combine comedy and Rock’ n’ Roll when they take the M Pavilion stage at the M Resort on Saturday, Jan. 21at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $20. Nerd Halen plays the music of Van Halen, a legendary band known for in-your-face sex appeal and guitar wizardry. Still, this super tribute group never takes themselves seriously, providing many laugh-out-loud moments. Actor and comedian Hal Sparks has delighted audiences by appearing in “Lab Rats,” “Talk Soup,” “Dude,” “Where’s My Car,” “Queer As Folk,” and many more. Sparks is the ultimate frontman with a voice genuinely resembling David Lee Roth, while adding his quick wit and boundless energy. Well-known Van Halen aficionado Caleb Rapoport is the only tribute band guitar player to have an artist’s relationship with Edward Van Halen’s equipment brand EVH GEAR. The GIT-schooled guitarist was one of the creators of the rock show mixing the high-energy music of Van Halen with nerdy, intellectual comedy.
RICHARD CHEESE & LOUNGE AGAINST THE MACHINE VISIT RED ROCK: America’s loudest lounge singer is coming back to Las Vegas. Richard Cheese & Lounge Against The Machine will return to Rocks Lounge inside Red Rock Resort Thursday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $37.50. Richard Cheese performs swingin’ Vegas versions of rock and rap songs, “swankifying” popular Top-40 hits into retro vocal standards. CARLOS SANTANA’S LAST 2022 VEGAS DATES ARE IN NOVEMBER: Folks looking to see Carlos Santana this year, have a few chances in November to catch the guitar great and his band as they continue their run at House of Blues inside Mandalay Bay. Remaining 2022 performance dates are Nov. 2, 4-6, 9, 11-13. Tickets for “An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live: Presented by SiriusXM” start at $99.50. Santana’s residency celebrated its 10-year anniversary this year. Since May 2012, with the sale of tickets, the Santana residency has been responsible for a donation of more than $230,000 to benefit both the Milagro Foundation and to House of Blues’ Music Forward Foundation.
AMY SCHUMER’S RESORTS WORLD SHOW DATE RESCHEDULED: Due to a scheduling conflict, Amy Schumer, Emmy-winning standup comedian, actress, writer, producer, and director, has rescheduled her Saturday, Nov. 5 at 9 p.m. Las Vegas tour date at Resorts World Theatre to Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, at 8 p.m. Tickets purchased for the original show date will be honored for the rescheduled date and time. Most recently, Schumer wrote, executive produced, directed and starred in her 10-episode comedy series “Life & Beth,” which is streaming now on Hulu and has been renewed for a second season. Currently, she is on her first major tour in over four years. “Amy Schumer: Whore Tour” began in July and runs through fall including stops all throughout the U.S.
ALL IN AVIATION ACQUIRES ALSIM ALSR20 FLIGHT TRAINING SIMULATOR: All In Aviation, Southern Nevada’s premier flight school and full-service aviation company, is the first independent flight school in the U.S. to acquire one of the most innovative flight training simulators on the market – the ALSIM ALSR20 Flight Training Device (FTD). The technologically advanced simulator provides student pilots with a unique and immersive training experience when earning their private pilot license (PPL) and instrument rating (IR). Equipped with ALSIM’s Advanced VFR Visual System featuring a 270-degree wrap-around screen, ALSIM’s patented force feedback system, and a Cirrus SR G6-specific interior cockpit and flight deck with Garmin avionics, the ALSR20 FTD is a replica of the SR20 Cirrus Aircraft. This setup allows student pilots to familiarize themselves with Cirrus Aircraft’s specifications before getting into an actual plane. All In Aviation purchased the simulator at the annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh general aviation convention in August, and just completed the installation at their Henderson Executive Airport (HND) location.

CITY OF LAS VEGAS RECOGNIZES NEON MUSEUM’S 10TH ANNIVERSARY: The Neon Museum recently received a special proclamation from the city of Las Vegas to commemorate the 10th anniversary of opening its current campus on Las Vegas Boulevard in historic downtown on Oct. 27, 2012. Councilman Cedric Crear presented the proclamation in person to The Neon Museum’s executive director, Aaron Berger inside the museum’s Neon Boneyard, home to its iconic neon sign collection.

Airport Slot Concession Inc. HITS MILESTONE: Michael Gaughan’s Airport Slot Concession, Inc. has been operating for 36 years at Harry Reid International Airport. This year the company celebrated a milestone, having generated one billion dollars in revenue over the lifetime of its airport contract. In recent years, slot machines have generated approximately $39.8 million in Gross Revenue annually, which translates to an average of $34.4 million in revenue for the airport. The funds generated by slots and other airport concessions help keep airport operating costs down and, in turn, plane ticket prices low. The company operates 1,430 slot machines in all the airport’s terminals and has 245 employees. When visitors arrive and leave having slots in the airport is an amenity setting the tone for a Vegas experience. In the United States, Harry Reid International Airport is one of only two airports with slot machines.
