NEON MUSEUM EXTENDS TIM BURTON’S ‘LOST VEGAS’ EXHIBIT: The popular “Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum” presented by the Engelstad Foundation has been extended through April 12, 2020. Burton will make a book signing appearance at the exhibit on Tuesday, Jan. 21 beginning at 1:30 p.m. He’ll sign copies of the brand-new exhibition catalogue “Lost Vegas: Tim Burton @ The Neon Museum” ($29.95), as well as his books “The Art of Tim Burton”($75) and “The Napkin Art of Tim Burton: things you think about in a bar” ($19.99). Advance registration for the book-signing is required at the Neon Museum’s website starting on Jan. 8. Burton’s “Lost Vegas” showcase is comprised of sculptural and digital installations which celebrate the artist’s links to Las Vegas and its historical neon heritage. These artworks, many of which are site-specific creations, are displayed in the Neon Boneyard and incorporated into the outdoor light show “Brilliant!” in the North Gallery. Works play with the museum’s landmark sign collection, which was prominently featured in Burton’s 1996 film “Mars Attacks!”
FORMER EAGLE – DON FELDER HEADLINES GREEN VALLEY RANCH: Legendary musician Don Felder, formerly of The Eagles, will return to Las Vegas for a special performance inside the Grand Events Center at Green Valley Ranch on Saturday, May 23. Tickets start at $25. Felder, a member of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 1998, served as lead guitarist and member of The Eagles for 27 years. The band’s record-setting compilation “Their Greatest Hits” (1971-1975) sold more than 29 million copies in the United States and was awarded the top-selling album of the 20th Century by the RIAA. Felder originated the music and co-wrote The Eaglesʼ biggest hit – the Grammy-studded smash “Hotel California” – along with fan favorites like “Victim of Love” and “Those Shoes.” “Hotel California” was recently voted the No. 1 best 12 string guitar song in the world by “Guitar World” magazine. Since leaving The Eagles in 2001, Felder has become a top-tier solo artist, having placed the hard-driving “Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride)” in the pole position of the same-named 1981 animated film, along with a pair of fully realized full-length albums.
IMPRESSIONIST GORDIE BROWN RETURNS TO GOLDEN NUGGET: Comic, singer and impressionist Gordie Brown will return to the Golden Nugget’s showroom, where he once was a long-running seven-year headliner, in an exclusive and limited time run with an all new show “Lasting Impressions” beginning Tuesday, Feb. 11 with 7:30 performances on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Brown has more than 200 impressions in his full repertoire. Tickets start at $25.
‘THE COCKTAIL CABARET’ SCHEDULES TWO SHOWS AT NOTORIETY: “The Cocktail Cabaret” will present two special performances Jan. 22 and 23 in the 125-seat Cabaret Room at Notoriety, 450 Fremont Street, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $50 for VIP seating. This show had a year-long run on Cleopatra’s Barge at Caesars Palace in 2018 and was honored by the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s “Best of Las Vegas” awards. Original cast member classical/pop singer Daniel Emmet made it to the finals of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” PK Entertainment is preparing the show for a mini tour in February at a series of venues in South Florida. These local performances will be an opportunity to remount and restage the show and make it a full 90-minute mainstage version able to play in larger proscenium theaters nationwide. “The Cocktail Cabaret” focuses on musical virtuosity and humor by a small cast of power-house singers and a four-piece band led by co-producer and renowned pianist Philip Fortenberry well known for “Behind the Candelabra.” Everyone in the show has major Broadway theater credits.
Ivory Star Productions’ shows at the D Las Vegas, “Marriage Can Be Murder,” Adam London’s “Laughternoon, “Friends! The Musical Parody,” “Defending the Caveman,” and “Jokesters Comedy Club” have all closed there permanently because the second-floor showroom will be undergoing a major redesign and expansion. We’re informed relocation announcements for the shows will be made in the future. Penn Jillette has called on show biz pals Mac King, Matt Donnelly and Piff the Magic Dragon to help while his partner Teller recuperates from his third back surgery in 18 months. Teller has set Feb. 1 to return, meanwhile “Penn & Friends” is doing a good job filling the void at the Rio. The “All Shook Up” Elvis tribute show in the V Theater at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will commemorate its six-year anniversary on Monday, Jan. 20. The show plays nightly at 6 p.m. Also, a new show “The Jets 80’s & 90’s Experience” opened at the V Theater featuring the Grammy-nominated band Tuesday-Saturday at 7 p.m. Clint Carvalho, the exotic bird specialist who was an “America’s Got Talent” YouTube finalist, has his “Extreme Parrots” show running at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. every weekend and major holiday through Feb. 17. Admission to the show in the Big Springs Theater is free with paid admission to the Springs Preserve. Meet-and-greet events are offered after the show for $5 letting guests get up close with the parrots. Brooklyn Bowl will hold its third series of dates for the interactive, family-friendly Rock and Roll Playhouse held monthly on Saturdays at 11 a.m. to introduce children to concerts. The upcoming daytime events will feature the music reduced to a child-safe volume of rock icons David Bowie on Jan. 25 and Prince on Feb. 22. Tickets are $15 and free for kids under the age of one. Rock ‘n’ roll themed “Cherry Boom Boom” at OYO, formerly Hooters, will return to the Night Owl Showroom with new dancers and moves on Thursday, Jan. 16. After several months at OYO, which culminated on Dec. 21, the show will now be extended in 2020 with performances at 11 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. Tickets start at $45. Drag Diva Brunch at 11 a.m. will open at the House of Blues Restaurant & Bar in Mandalay Bay on Jan. 11 and run through April 4. Now in its fourth year, Drag Diva Brunch features an all-star cast of queens, as well as guest stars from “RuPaul’s Drag Race” combined with an all-you-can-eat brunch buffet.
‘KIDZ BOP LIVE 2020’ WILL VISIT THE SMITH CENTER: KIDZ BOP, the No. 1 music brand, has a brand-new tour planned. “KIDZ BOP Live 2020,” in partnership with Live Nation, will bring the family-friendly live concert experience to The Smith Center Friday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. Tickets, price range $29.95 to $64.95, go on sale Jan. 10. The KIDZ BOP Kids, named one of Billboard Magazine’s Top 100 Artists of the Decade, have sold more than 21 million albums and will perform some of today’s biggest hits. The all-new live tour will feature KIDZ BOP’s best production yet with new sets, wardrobe, choreography, interactive elements, and surprises.
VEGANUARY KICKS OFF THIRD YEAR IN LAS VEGAS: This month for the third consecutive year, Veganuary presented by Vegans, Baby returns to Las Vegas with 30+ restaurant partners while launching the program in two new cities – San Diego, Calif., and Portland, Ore. Participating restaurants throughout the month will offer special vegan dishes and menus designed to give curious diners the opportunity to get to know chefs and restaurants. A portion of the proceeds will benefit nonprofit organizations, local animal rescue, A Home 4 Spot, and the international Veganuary. Last year 30+ restaurants sold more than 6,000 vegan dishes and raised upwards of $6,700. This year’s full list of restaurants can be found at Vegans, Baby’s website. Some establishments lined up include Heavenly Vegas, Border Grill, Mott 32 at The Venetian, Naked City, and Tacotarian.
LAS VEGAS CELEBRATES CHINESE NEW YEAR
After celebrating America’s new year, Las Vegas gets ready to celebrate Chinese New Year, the Year of the Rat, on Saturday, Jan. 25. There will be many events around town at many resorts as well as at shopping malls and Discovery Children’s Museum. Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian® will celebrate with the 9th Annual Chinese New Year in the Desert™ with four days of live entertainment and activations, available Jan. 23-26. Festivities will kick off the new year with an all-new Wishing Tree installation located in the heart of the Shoppes in the Palazzo tower, with a special red envelope distribution. More than 100 envelopes filled with a special prize from gift cards to chocolate gold coins and more will be available daily at 2 and 3 p.m. There will be a daily 5 p.m. Traditional Chinese Drummers performance followed by a 6 p.m. Lion Dance at The Sky Garden. On Saturday, Traditional Fan Dancers will perform at noon. The Fashion Show mall will start its celebratory affair in The Great Hall on Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. with its “Yoga for Locals” event. This special yoga experience will welcome in a year filled with good luck, happiness, self-care, and true alignment. On Sunday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m., a two-hour spectacle will feature a customary lion and dragon dance on stilts, followed by a selection of cultural dances and a one-of-a-kind lantern dance show. The lion and dragon dancers will parade through the shopping destination to bless and wish good fortune upon each of the department stores and feed the lion money to bring good luck for the new year. Also, at the Fashion Show, a lantern dance will be performed during its 15-day celebration. From Jan. 26-Feb. 7, the show will be held 2, 6, and 8 p.m. at The Great Hall and on the exterior digital screens on The Plaza at 2, 6, 8, 10 p.m. and midnight. In addition, guests will be treated to a “East Meets West Runway Show” experience on Feb. 1. The Discovery Children’s Museum will honor the Chinese New Year Jan. 25-31 with Year of the Rat inspired activities – including creating a rat puppet inspired by Chinese art, learning about the Year of the Rat and how Chinese New Year is celebrated, and exploring skull and tooth specimens from different species of rodents in Patents Pending.
FUTURE MUSIC EVENTS
The fourth installment of Art of The Wild, a three-day music and cultural experience with acclaimed artists in techno and house, will return March 13-15. Events will take place at Wynn Nightlife venues XS Nightclub, Encore Beach Club and Encore Beach Club at Night. Talent lineup in alphabetical order includes Bedouin, BLOND:ISH, Bob Moses (Club Set), Chris Lake, Felix da Housecat, Fisher, Guy Gerber, Lee Burridge + ADID, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, RÜFÜS DU SOL (DJ Set), Seth Troxler and more. Chris Lake will also be joining Wynn Nightlife’s 2020 resident lineup. Downtown Las Vegas Events Center will host the all-new Reggae Rise Up Vegas (RRU VEGAS) festival April 18-19. The two-day music extravaganza will feature headlining performances from SoCal reggae-rock stars Slightly Stoopid and Dirty Heads. Other performances will include reggae all-stars including SOJA, J. Boog, Matisyahu, Common Kings, Hirie, Collie Buddz, Fortunate Youth, The Movement, Iya Terra, Mike Love, JeSssie Royal, Nattali Rize and more. There will also be a variety of art installations, bar options, food trucks, and a vendor village.
The Mayfair Supper Club opened at Bellagio on New Year’s Eve. Lady Gaga brought 100 of her dancers and friends to The Mayfair for an early New Year’s celebration the Friday before the restaurant opened to the public. This month’s Taste & Learn event at Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant & Wine Bar is themed “Winter Gems for a Happy 2020” on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 5 p.m. The wine pairing menu will feature a tour of Italian wineries from Le Marche. Tickets are $75 inclusive; call l702-364-5300. Italian restaurant Terra Rossa at Red Rock resort will hold a special three-night event, Jan. 9-11, highlighting authentic Italian fare by the renowned chefs of Aurora Capri. Billed as “A Taste of Capri,” the full menu take-over, crafted by chef Franco Aversa and owner Mia D’Alessio, will feature an a-la-carte or prix-fixe tasting menu for $60 or $85 with wine pairings. In addition, guests of “A Taste of Capri” will also take home a complimentary batch of handmade limoncello, a classic delicacy from the Italian coast.
CRAFTHAUS BREWERY HOLDS SPECIAL FAMILY-FRIENDLY EVENT: CraftHaus Brewery will host a family-friendly event on Saturday, Jan. 18 from noon to 3 p.m. at 7350 Eastgate Rd #110 in Henderson. Guests will have photo opportunities on a fire truck, meet and greets with local firefighters and brewers, bites from Black Tiger BBQ and special Black Cherry and Vanilla Haus-made soda. Partnering with the Henderson Firefighters Benevolent Association, the exclusive StationHaus brew, a Smoked Red Lager, has a portion of the proceeds donated to the Trauma Intervention Program of Southern Nevada (TIP). StationHaus will be available on draft during the event as well as to take home in CraftHaus’ 32 oz crowlers.

REFLECTION BAY GOLD CLUB REBOUNDS: Reflection Bay Gold Club built in 1998, which is a Jack Nicklaus-designed course and one of three in Southern Nevada, closed during the last recession and reopened in 2014. In the past two years, the course located at the Lake Las Vegas community has made a comeback and was recently recognized as the Gold Winner in the Best of Las Vegas awards. The course has improved its golf conditions, been updated and expanded clubhouse offerings. Last year, the club launched The High Performance Golf Institute with PGA Tour professionals as instructors and now has more than 100 junior and adult athletes.
