BALLY’S WILL INTEGRATE MINI-GOLF AND BOWLING INTO RESORT MIX: The operator of the Rio mini-golf course, which is themed for the Kiss rock band, will open a second Las Vegas location at Bally’s with a different theme to-be-determined. Opening this fall in the property’s lower level with retail shops, the project will include the 10,000-square-foot mini-golf, arcade and bowling attraction. The Monster Mini Golf operator has 30 18-hole miniature golf courses nationwide and has plans for a third location in the Las Vegas area.
PALMS OPENS NEW DINING CONCEPT, LUCKY PENNY CAFÉ: This month, Palms Casino Resort unveiled its new 24-hour dining concept off the casino floor, Lucky Penny Café serving up a playful American cuisine menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. The eatery also offers a healthier menu for guests on the go, a wok station and a pastry window. The café marks the property’s first major enhancement under Station Casinos’ ownership. The 143-seat café features mid-century modern elements in dark neutral wood tones with touches of blue and gold, oversized light fixtures, marble tables and countertops, and spirited artwork. The dining area is surrounded by vintage-inspired whitewashed organic ashlar stone walls with bronze screen panels. A large wrap-around counter with individual charging stations is ideal for business and breakfast.
CIRQUE REVEALS NEW MAGICAL TECHNICAL TOUR FOR ‘LOVE™’: It’s been 10 years since Cirque du Soleil opened “The Beatles LOVE” at The Mirage in 2006 and now folks can get a free peek behind the curtain to see the creative process. LOVE’s new Magical Technical Tour is a complimentary open house held every Saturday from 1-1:30 p.m. showcasing the production’s state-of-the-art technology, one-of-a-kind set pieces, epic sound system and more. Attendees get a demonstration of the show’s powerhouse opening number “Get Back” without the artists to highlight the production’s immense capabilities. Guests receive an exclusive ticket offer, which may be redeemed at the box office. All ages are welcome.
‘BAZ – STAR CROSSED LOVE’ CELEBRATES ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY: “BAZ – Star Crossed Love,” which opened at The Palazzo in July 2016, is celebrating its one-year anniversary. The show’s original star Ruby Lewis, who went on to become leading lady in the Broadway production “Paramour,” will return on July 25. Lewis has performed in national tours of “Grease,” “Jersey Boys,” and “Gypsy;” in guest and recurring roles on “Desperate Housewives,” “Girl Meets World,” and “Hart of Dixie;” and on the big screen in “Another Perfect Stranger,” “Pass the Light,” and “1 Message.” The show is centered around three of the greatest love stories telling the tales of ill-fated couples from visionary filmmaker Baz Luhrmann’s iconic films “Romeo + Juliet,” “Moulin Rouge,” and “The Great Gatsby.” Performances are at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and tickets start at $59.50.
7TH & CARSON BAR AND RESTAURANT OPENS DOWNTOWN: With a “location” for a name, 7th & Carson Bar and Restaurant opened on a familiar Downtown Las Vegas corner sitting adjacent to Downtown Container Park. Guests enter directly into the patio garden with fresh herbs hanging from the walls and green foliage lining the brick enclosed outdoor dining area. Patrons may dine al fresco or inside the cozy main dining room. Open seating is available at the counter with the exhibition hearth oven or at the bar. The culinary program designed by Executive Chef Gregg Fortunato is comprised of simple shareable plates with a playful twist. The establishment is open Thursday through Monday 5 p.m. to closing.
TOM DEVLIN’S MONSTER MUSEUM OPENS IN BOULDER CITY: Yep, besides seeing Hoover Dam, you can now visit Boulder City to see Tom Devlin’s Monster Museum at 1310 Nevada Highway. Devlin is a professional makeup and special effects artist who wants to preserve the art form and feature information and artwork on practical effects artists like John Chambers, who created the prosthetics for the original “Planet of the Apes” movies. Some of the displays include Devlin’s original artwork, highlighting television shows and films including “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” “Creature of the Black Lagoon,” “Planet of the Apes,” “Army of Darkness,” “Poultrygeist,” “The Walking Dead,” “Child’s Play,” and “Puppet Master.” Admission is $13.
TERRY FATOR LAUNCHES SUMMER OF WINSTON : Winston the Impersonating Turtle in ventriloquist Terry Fator’s show at The Mirage is offering a Summer of Winston ticket discount through Sept. 30. Fans can receive 40-percent off standard ticket prices in sections B, C and D by using the code WINSTONSUMMER. In addition, Fator is launching a new children’s book “Winston,” written by Sally L. Kirkham, Ph.D., a leader in learning behavior, and illustrated by longtime Fator collaborator Pete Mitchell. The book is centered on Winston’s adventures through swamps and ponds. The $15 book also provides easy-to-use strategies to help children beginning at age five to develop their reading skills, and is the first of an upcoming series of Winston The Impersonating Turtle Tales books.
TROPICANA HOSTS WORLD SERIES OF DARTS: For the first time since 2010, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) is bringing the tournament to the United States at the Trinidad Pavilion inside Tropicana Las Vegas, July 13-15. Eight North American qualifiers will face eight of the best international professionals for a chance to earn the title of U.S. Darts Master. There will be two days of qualifiers on July 11-12 allowing any darts player from North America the chance to win their spot in the eight-player North American Championship, which will take place on July 13. The North American Champion will also earn a place in the 2018 World Championships in London. Matches are cheered on by passionate, beer-chugging, costumed onlookers.
WORLD SERIES OF POKER MAIN EVENT AIRING LIVE DAILY: The World Series of Poker® for the first time in the competition’s 48-year history is having live video coverage with a 30-minute mandatory delay of the world’s richest annual poker tournament each day. Coverage started with the opening flight on July 8 and is continuing daily through the event’s conclusion on Saturday, July 22. ESPN, ESPN2 and PokerGO will provide the most comprehensive video account as players vie for a first place prize of around $8 million, while competing for approximately $60 million in prize money.
SOUTH POINT HOSTS BMX RACING AND HORSE TRAINING: The South Point Arena will feature USA BMX 2017 Las Vegas Nationals Friday-Sunday, July 14-16. Racing fans will watch top amateur BMX competitors in the United States fly around the dirt race track to win the champion title. This event is free and open to the public. The arena will transform into a horse lovers paradise during The Walkabout Tour, presented by Down Under Horsemanship on Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23. Clinton Anderson, a world-renowned equestrian clinician, trainer and competitor, will give an in-depth look at his successful horse training methods using his own personal horses for demonstrations. Tickets are $25.
NEW GRAND CANYON HELICOPTER RAFTING TOUR: Grand Canyon Helicopters has launched its newest tour: Heli & Whitewater Rafting Adventure offered in partnership with Hualapai River Runners, which is available through Oct. 31. The adventure begins at the Grand Canyon Helicopters terminal at McCarran International Airport with a helicopter fight to the airport in Peach Springs, Ariz., where Hualapai River Runners transport guests to board an eight-person motorized river raft for navigating the Colorado River. The four-hour whitewater adventure consists of rapids, a moderate hike to Travertine Cavern Falls, and lunch.
Flamingo GO Pool
The Flamingo GO Pool will feature rap duo The Ying Yang Twins on Saturday, July 15 followed on July 15 by the Sunday Night Jams concert with Everclear celebrating the milestone 20th anniversary of their 1997 multiplatinum smash “So Much For The Afterglow.” DJs From Mars will display their mash-up attitude into Electronic Dance Music on Saturday, July 22.
Downtown Las Vegas Events Center
Multi-platinum rock band Goo Goo Dolls, accompanied by “American Idol” Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips, will take over the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center (DLVEC) as part of their “Long Way Home” summer tour on Saturday, July 15. Tickets start at $22.
Vietnam’s top musical acts will appear at DLVEC on Wednesday, July 19 for the Vietnamese Summer Party with tickets starting at $45.
The ongoing free Latin music concert series enters its fourth year with even more chart-topping Latin artists. Miller Lite will bring the series to Las Vegas for the first time with multi-platinum Latin music star, Yandel. The two-time Latin GRAMMY Award-winner Yandel will join Conciertos Originales on Thursday, July 20.
The I Love the 90’s Tour with an all-star lineup featuring super girl group headliner, TLC, plus Rob Base, Coolio, Biz Markie and more are booked Friday, July 21. Tickets start at $20.
The Retro Futura Tour 2017, America’s Premier 80’s Concert Tour, will be headlined by synth pioneer Howard Jones and feature sets from English Beat, Men Without Hats, Modern English, Katrina (formerly of Katrina And The Waves) and Paul Young on Saturday, July 22. Tickets start at $13.
The 52 Fridays Concert Series featured in the Golden Nugget Showroom this month include: 1960s blue -eyed-soul group Felix Cavaliere’s Rascal – July 14; American heavy metal band Quiet Riot – July 21; and Los Angeles quartet Ambrosia – July 28.
Sam’s Town Live!
Top Cuban reggaeton stars will perform their greatest hits during “Cubatonazo” at Sam’s Town Live! on Sunday, July 23 at 8 p.m. The event lineup features Dayran y El Happy, Osmani Garcia, Chacal, Yakarta, Taiger, Yulien Oviedo, El Chappy and more.
Tickets are $50 in advance and $70 at the door.
Station Casinos Headliners
R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire will headline The Pearl at the Palms on Friday, July 14. Ticket range is $64 to $189. Alternative rock band Dashboard Confessional with The All-American Rejects will follow on Saturday, July 15. Tickets are $55-$95. CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers round out the weekend on Sunday, July 16 with some disco/funk music. Tickets are $39-$99. All shows are at 8 p.m.
Conkarah will bring reggae sounds to the Crimson Poolside Stage at Red Rock Resort on Friday, July 14. Tickets are $25.
There will be comedy in the Rocks Lounge at Red Rock on Friday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. with Jubal Live “The Show Money Can’t Buy.” This is a Free Listener Appreciation Concert with guests having to listen to Star 107.9 to win tickets. A tribute show will follow on Saturday, July 22 at 8 p.m. with Zepplin USA paying homage to Led Zeppelin. Tickets are $25 and $35.

Andiron Steak & Sea in Downtown Summerlin as part of its Chef Dinner Series will host a family-style dinner focusing on a taste of Spain on Tuesday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m. Executive Chef Robert Camacho will prepare tapas-inspired dishes and traditional paella for sharing, while Pastry Chef Samara Sulin creates Spanish desserts. Tickets are $59 and an optional beverage pairing is available for an additional $25.
The recently opened Terrace Lounge, steps away from Wynn’s main entrance and lush atrium, is offering Afternoon Tea daily from noon to 4 p.m. The experience includes a selection of afternoon tea blends, accompanied by house-made scones, savory tea sandwiches, delicate pastries and more in a relaxed setting.
Delmonico Steakhouse at The Venetian has a Summer Trio menu offered during dinner only, Sunday through Thursday nights, through Aug. 31 for $75. The value-oriented prix fixe menu includes five appetizer options, four entrees, and three in-house made desserts.
Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant is featuring its $45 Summer Menu, a prix-fixe, four-course dinner, through Sept. 4.
National Daiquiri Day will be Wednesday, July 19. Cabo Wabo Cantina at Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood will be offering music and many daiquiri flavors including: Electric Blue; Frisky Whiskey; Vegas Crush; and more in various sizes, between 16 and 60 ounces. Daiquiri prices start at $10.
Local BRAVO! Cucina Italiana located at the Galleria at Sunset mall through July 31 is offering children 12 and under to eat free during lunch from 11 a.m.–3 p.m. and teachers with a valid Clark County School District I.D. receive a 10 percent discount on food through Aug. 1. By the way, the subtitle “Cucina Italiana” means Italian kitchen, in which all cooking is done in full view of the guest.

It’s been all over the news that July in Las Vegas started with retail recreational marijuana is legal. It would be an understatement to say folks were lining up at locations like The+Source. An interesting note, a retro-local bar called Dispensary Lounge was inundated with phone calls; however, located off Tropicana and Eastern Avenues, it is strictly a fun bar.
Ellis Island Casino Hotel and Brewery broke ground on its new two-story dining, bar and entertainment venue, “The Front Yard,” and presented renderings. The new indoor/outdoor attraction scheduled to open late this year will present a beer garden-like lush and green atmosphere and be an exciting addition to the popular, family-owned Las Vegas destination on Koval Lane behind Bally’s.
SLS Las Vegas has introduced a new casino rewards program, Club 52. The name pays homage to the year the former Sahara Hotel and Casino opened its doors. The four-tier structure offers an array of new benefits with each tier progression offering players the opportunity to accrue and spend points.
The Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation (NCCF), which serves more than 400 pediatric patients, survivors and their families each year, will open the all-new Britney Spears Campus on Monday, July 17 at 3711 East Sunset Road. The 16,000-square-foot facility combines more than 45 pediatric and adult services, previously located at two separate locations. The new building is made possible by headliner Spears and her efforts to raise one million dollars with donations from ticket sales from her “Piece of Me” show at Planet Hollywood, as well as major donors.
Dean Martin who would have turned 100 this year was part of the Rat Pack and infamous for his Celebrity Roasts and headlining in Las Vegas, is being celebrated by the Las Vegas News Bureau with an exhibit of rarely seen photographs. Images of the “King of Cool” are posted at two locations in the Las Vegas Convention Center, the main lobby and the central concourse.
Brian “Head” Welch, guitarist from multi-platinum Nu Metal rockers Korn, earned his wings recently at Vegas Indoor Skydiving.
The Neon Museum is honoring renowned sign designer Betty Willis in a small exhibit at the Lost City Museum in Overton, Nev., through Aug. 30. Willis designed Las Vegas’ famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign, as well as the distinctive signs for the Moulin Rouge and the Blue Angel Motel, among others. Admission is $5 for adults.
